Where can I get local delivery of fireplace logs in East Sussex?

A: Ed’s Logs provides convenient local delivery across East Sussex. We offer a choice of nets, barrow bags, bulk builders bags, or loose tipped loads, depending on how much space you have and how often you burn. Q3:

What’s the best place to order cord wood logs for wood burners in Sussex?

A: For households in Sussex, Ed’s Logs supplies high-quality seasoned logs cut to standard lengths that fit most wood burners. We offer delivery throughout East Sussex and parts of West Sussex. Our bulk options — including builders bags and 2–3m³ loose loads — are ideal for regular burners looking for great value and reliable heat.

Q4:

What is the difference between “standard logs” and “gym logs / larger logs”?

“Standard logs” are cut to sizes that suit most stoves and fires. “Gym logs” (or “larger logs”) come in thicker rounds which are ideal for longer burns but may need splitting before use.

Q5:

Do our logs arrive ready to burn?

A: Yes — our logs are supplied already seasoned, however, remember that some of our gym logs arrive in ring form, so you may need to split them before use.

Q6:

How is the wood delivered?

We deliver logs loose, or in bulk bags, barrow bags, and nets across Kent and Sussex. Using our specialist crane, we can lift bulk bags over obstacles like fences or hedges to save you the heavy lifting and keep your driveway clear.

When you order from E.B. Logs & Forestry, you are guaranteed seasoned dry wood (under 20% moisture) delivered to the most convenient location on your property.

Q7:

Where can I buy seasoned firewood logs in Kent?

A: You can order seasoned firewood directly from us here at Ed’s Logs. We deliver across much of Kent within a 15 km radius of our base, with options ranging from nets and barrow bags to bulk and loose loads. All of our logs are sustainably sourced and carefully seasoned for a clean, efficient burn.

Q8:

How long should firewood be seasoned before use?

A: At Ed’s Logs, we season our firewood for at least 12–24 months, ensuring the moisture content is below 20% before it reaches you. This means your logs arrive ready to burn — giving you hotter, longer-lasting fires with minimal smoke.

Q9:

How many logs should I order for the winter?

A: An average household using a wood burner on evenings and weekends typically goes through 3 to 4 cubic metres (m³) of firewood per season. For those using a fire as their primary heat source, we recommend ordering in bulk (2m³+) early in the autumn to ensure you have a consistent supply of seasoned wood ready for the first frost.

Q10:

How should I store my seasoned logs after delivery?

A: Logs should be stored in a well-ventilated log store that is off the ground and covered by a waterproof roof. Avoid wrapping logs in plastic sheets, as this traps moisture. Proper airflow is the key to maintaining the quality of seasoned wood.

Q11:

How much firewood is in a cubic metre (m³)?

A: At E.B Logs & Forestry, we sell our logs by loose volume in cubic metres (m³). It is important to note that firewood should never be bought by weight, as "heavy" wood often simply means it has a high water content.

  • 1m³ (Loose Volume): This is roughly equivalent to 1.5 to 2 traditional "builder's bags" (bulk bags).

  • 2m³ (Loose Volume): This is our most popular size for winter prep and fits comfortably into a standard-sized driveway or a large log store.

Q12:

Why is my wood burner glass turning black, and how can I stop it?

Blackened stove glass is usually caused by "incomplete combustion," which happens for two main reasons:

  1. Moisture in the Wood: If you use unseasoned wood, the fire stays too cool as it tries to evaporate the water. This creates creosote and tar that sticks to the glass. Using our seasoned logs (under 20% moisture) is the best way to prevent this.

  2. Lack of Airflow: If you "slumber" your fire (turning the air vents down too low to make the logs last longer), the fire doesn't get enough oxygen to burn off the gases.

When you buy from E.B Logs you are guaranteed seasoned dry wood with a moisture content of 20% or less. Because our logs have undergone a natural, long-term air-seasoning process, they ignite quickly and burn at the high temperatures required to keep your glass crystal clear.
